2.1 General

It is OLS' intent to follow the principles of the Ontario Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

2.2 Responsibilities

With respect to the right to freedom of information, OLS will not:

  • Reasonably refuse access to information to those from whom it was collected.
  • Refuse requests to have information corrected or updated where appropriate and consistent with law.
  • Operate in any way inconsistent with the Ontario Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

With respect to the right to protection of privacy, OLS will not:

  • Collect information without informing the source of the information of the purpose(s) for which it is being collected.
  • Use information in ways other than the purpose(s) for which it was collected.
  • Disclose information to any third party unless prior wirtten consent has been obtained or where required by law.
  • Operation in any way inconsistent with the Ontario Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

In the course of doing business, OLS may collect personal and/or organizational informtion from:

  • Library staff
  • Library trusteees
  • Library organizations
  • Suppliers
  • Donors
  • OLS' staff
